Images of the Tarka Trail Foot/Cycle Path South of Barnstaple New Bridge.

A few photographs taken whilst cycling around the trail, a very pleasant thing to do. I shall add more as I take them.

First of all views of the new bridge under construction, part of the Barnstaple by-pass scheme taken on Sunday 14th May 2006, Sunday 28th May 2006, Sunday 20th Aug 2006 and Tuesday 17th April 2006. Completed on  the 23rd May, the Trail continues over the new bridge linking  Meeth, Torrington and Bideford to Barnstaple and Braunton.                View the bridge webcam.

Some views around Fremington railway station.
A place to sit and enjoy the view, enjoy refreshments in or outside the cafe or hire yourselves bicycles.

How about this for an intriguing building built by a local craftsman on one of the picnic sites near Instow. Unfortunately the thatched roof was fired by vandals and has been replaced by wooden slats. I don't know if this is a permanent restoration. Shame.

A sailing boat passing Appledore is seen from Instow, followed by a view of a sculpture further along the trail.

Below is another view looking towards Instow and Appledore and one towards Appledore shipyard taken from Zeta berth.

Views of the new Bideford bridge and two photographs of the old Bideford railway station.

Followed by a memorial to some brave airmen and Landcross bridge.

A
peaceful image of another bridge and six of the imaginatively sculptured seats to be found along the trail.
